New Home Electrical Newcastle: Builder’s Electrician and Level 2 ASP in One

One electrician from slab to Ausgrid connection. Elevated Electrical & Automation carries out the complete electrical scope on residential new builds across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, and because we are an Ausgrid-accredited Level 2 ASP, we also do the network side: temporary builders supply at the start and the permanent consumer mains and metering at the end. Builders deal with one contractor and one point of accountability, with no gap between the internal electrical and the connection to the grid.

What we do on a new build

  • Temporary builders supply (TBS) so your trades have power from day one. We install the pole and board, lodge the paperwork and connect it to the Ausgrid network.
  • Rough-in of all power, lighting, data, TV, smoke alarm and air conditioning circuits, to the electrical plan or our own layout with the owner.
  • Switchboard sized for the home, with RCBO protection on every circuit and space for EV charging, solar and battery.
  • Fit-off of power points, switches, downlights, exhaust fans, oven and cooktop connections, hot water and appliances.
  • Consumer mains and metering. Overhead or underground service from the street, meter panel and smart meter, all done in-house as Level 2 ASP work.
  • Three-phase supply where the home needs it for ducted air conditioning, a pool heat pump, EV chargers or a workshop.
  • Home automation. We are approved Clipsal Wiser and SAL Pixie installers, so smart lighting, blinds and climate control can be built into the wiring rather than bolted on later.
  • Certificates and sign-off. Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), Notification of Service Work (NOSW) to Ausgrid and the meter connection through the retailer, handled by us.

Why builders use us

Most electricians have to subcontract the connection work to a separate Level 2 provider, which means two quotes, two schedules and two people blaming each other when the power is not on for handover. We hold all four Level 2 ASP categories on the Ausgrid network: disconnect and reconnect, underground services, overhead services and metering. Our recent work includes single dwellings, duplexes and multi-lot subdivisions at Murrays Beach, Catherine Hill Bay, Nords Wharf, Dudley, Redhead, Charlestown and New Lambton.

  • NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 460779C and ABN 70 673 767 087
  • Ausgrid Level 2 ASP accredited in all four categories
  • Fixed-price quotes from your plans, with variations agreed in writing before they are done
  • Progress claims tied to rough-in, fit-off and connection milestones
  • Based in Gateshead, so we are on site quickly anywhere in Newcastle or Lake Macquarie

How a new build electrical job runs

  1. Plans and quote. Send the architectural and electrical plans. We price the full scope, including TBS and the permanent connection, and flag anything Ausgrid will require.
  2. Temporary builders supply. Installed before the slab so the site has power for the whole build.
  3. Rough-in after frame and before plaster, with a walk-through to confirm point locations with the owner.
  4. Fit-off after painting, then testing of every circuit.
  5. Permanent connection. Consumer mains, meter panel and smart meter installed, NOSW lodged and the home energised for handover.

Owner-builders and knockdown rebuilds

If you are managing your own build we can take on the whole electrical scope or just the Level 2 parts. On a knockdown rebuild we handle the disconnection of the old service before demolition, temporary supply during construction and the new connection at completion.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate Level 2 electrician for the Ausgrid connection?
Not with us. We are both the building electrician and the accredited Level 2 provider, so the same team does the wiring and the connection.

How early should temporary builders supply be arranged?
Allow two to three weeks before you need power on site. The retailer account and Ausgrid paperwork take longer than the physical install.

Can you wire for solar, batteries and EV charging even if they are not being installed yet?
Yes. Conduit, switchboard space and a three-phase supply are far cheaper to include during the build than to add later.

Do you work with builders outside Newcastle?
We regularly work across Lake Macquarie, the southern lake estates and into Maitland and the Hunter. Call to check your site.
